Zlatko Simovski

is a former employee aboard cruise ships and creator of owntheship.com. Born in a small developing country, he began his career in construction at the age of 12, where he worked for the next 13 years while also pursuing a degree in biotechnical sciences. After completing his education, he decided to explore the world beyond his home and applied for a job as a pool attendant on a cruise ship.

Zlatko spent almost six years working hard aboard ships but also created a lifetime of memories. He visited some of the most beautiful places on Earth, lived and worked alongside amazing people from over 70 countries, and met thousands of inspiring passengers.

Starting from the bottom, the author was able to rebuild his life to some extent. However, feeling the effects of his intense labor over the past 20 years, he decided to find a new path. Among other endeavors, he published the Diary of a Cruise Ship Employee, which he wrote during his first eight months working on a cruise ship.
